Let Us introduce you to ceramic coating, the magical potion for cars that everyone is talking about. We know you've heard about it before. From that friend who recently applied it on his Blacked out Chevrolet Corvette and who couldn't stop raving about it.
What is Ceramic Coating?
Industry grade ceramic coating is a chemical polymer solution that is applied to the exterior of a vehicle to protect it from external paint damage. Typically applied by hand, it blends with the paint of your vehicle and creates an extremely hydrophobic layer or multiple layers of protection. Ultimately ceramic coating will create a hydrophobic layer that essentially repels water, meaning mineral deposits and dirt have less opportunity to damage the paint surface. The permanent bond ceramic coatings (9h) is 3 X's harder than factory clear coat and produces glossy finish that shows the depth and lines of your vehicle.
Paint Correction
The proper preparation can make this an expensive endeavor. Since the coating will magnify any imperfections, you must first laboriously polish the paint to remove any swirls, scratches, or any discoloration. Thus is true for brand new cars fresh off a dealers lot, as they likely have slight paint damage from improper detailing with automatic car washes.
